the Alamo
Pictures of the Alamo
The Alamo was a battle taking place in the 19th century, between Mexicans and Texans. The Texans were fighting for their independence from Mexico. A team led by George Collinsworth and Benjamin Milam were sent to take over the Alamo. Colonel James Bowie and Lieutenant Colonel William B. Travis were appointed to defend the Alamo from the Mexicans. Davy Crockett also came to help fend off the Mexicans. The Texans were hugely outnumbered. The battle lasted 13 days. The Texans were eventually defeated by the Mexicans. General Antonio López of Santa Anna, was the leader of the Mexicans who managed to take back the Alamo. Many people from both sides died. However, the Alamo is now a symbol of courage and hope for all, since the Texans eventually won the battle later on.
